A first solution is offered by Boxee. This is an iPad app that has recently become available, but it’s quite successful due to the many features it brings to the table. First of all, you have the possibility to play on your iPad audio and video files that come from a local network or from the web. That’s because of the Media Manager feature. Another useful feature allows you to save the videos you want to watch at a later time. You can also connect with your friends, because it provides support for different social networks. These are the features that make it the best app you can use to watch movies on your iPad.

Another tool that you can use is Netflix. With this app installed on your iPad 2, you will understand why an iPad is a must-have device. There isn’t any major downside of this app, because the source of limitations is mostly the tablet itself. On the other hand, the biggest plus of Netflix is that it allows you to download your favorite movies on the go. The app is available for free and lately has been the “victim” of a series of improvements that you will certainly enjoy.

Another alternative is Crackle. This is an app supported by ads that will give you access to all kinds of movies and shows that belong to Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Sony Pictures or if you’re interested Screen Gems. What’s nice about this app is that it allows you to download the content either over Wi-Fi or over 3G. Owned by Sony Ericsson, Crackle is worth being on my list because of its content and programming.

I can’t forget about YouTube either. This is maybe the simplest way you can enjoy watching movies for free on your iPad. I haven’t mentioned it already, because it comes pre-installed on your iPad. You won’t even need any additional plugins if you use the HTML5 version of the player. This isn’t a surprising choice and it’s easy to track down, but it can’t lack from a complete list of video apps.
