IPad Spreadsheet

The iPad is a stylish and useful portable device that makes your life easier through the large amount of apps that you can install and use. Those who are looking for apps able to help them create and edit complex spreadsheets on their iPads should know that the market makes available a wide variety of possibilities. Here are a few of the apps that I think you should consider.

Mariner Calc is my first recommendation. This app is available for $6 and offers basic spreadsheet functions. It catches your attention with a user friendly interface and intuitive controls. You will be able to read and write Excel files directly on your iPad, but unfortunately you won’t benefit from chart and forms support. If you are interested in transferring the files to your PC you will need to use the built-in web browser.

You should also consider Sheets2 HD and Office2 HD available for $6 and $8, respectively. These two apps offer almost all the features that you can use when editing an Excel document on your computer. Sheet2 HD allows you to view, edit and create Microsoft Excel compatible workbooks without having you tied to your PC. It offers more than 140 Excel functions including cell formatting options, copy/cut/paste operations and the possibility to insert date/time, statistics and trigonometric functions inside your spreadsheets. On the other hand, Office2 HD comes with a lot of editing options for creating compatible Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on your iPad. It also allows you to save documents, spreadsheets and presentations in PDF format and print all of them wirelessly.

Other two impressive apps that you should install on your iPad and use to manage and create spreadsheets are QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite and Documents To Go. They actually have an important common feature: the ability to open, edit and save an Excel spreadsheet without removing any data stored in the original document. QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite allows you to create not only Excel files, but also Word and PowerPoint documents directly on your iPad. You can also import and edit documents in Office formats. The spreadsheet feature comes with basic formatting options and support for inserting/deleting columns, rows and sheets. Documents To Go is a solid editing app that allows you to create and manage various file types including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and HTML files. It offers all the essential functions of Word and Excel, so you won’t have any problem in editing your spreadsheets. For these two apps you will have to pay $10 per unit.

These are only a few of the apps that you can use to create and manage spreadsheets on your portable iPad.
