Ipad Kneeboard

The iPad’s display, hardware capabilities and amount of compatible apps make it suitable for professional and private pilots. The only problem is that in order to benefit from the benefits of this device, pilots need to make sure that inside the airplane’s cockpit the iPad is well secured, but still accessible. That means they need an intelligent accessory that has been made available on the market under the name of Tech Board iPro Kneeboard.

Companies have received the necessary FAA authorization that allows their pilots to use iPads during flights as long as they comes with the Jeppesen Mobile TC app that’s meant to help pilots replace the traditional and numerous paper charts with digital versions. So, the Tech Board iPro Kneeboard comes to solve the last issue remaining, that of properly securing the iPad during flight. This iPad Kneeboard for pilots costs only $79.95 and is available in two colors: black and navy blue. Although it’s designed especially for pilots I find it also useful for students and car passengers.

This iPad Kneeboard includes an elastic strap paired with Velcro closures that is meant to secure the accessory and the iPad to your leg. The design was conceived with care, so no discomfort will be felt even if you wear it for an entire day. In addition, while it secures your iPad it also leaves it functional because it doesn’t cover the entire front of the iPad. To add functionality to this iPad accessory, the designers also added a clipboard that can be used for holding documents and as lap desk in case you need to write something on the go. Moreover, after you attach it to your leg you will notice that is positioned at an angle so that you can easily read the information displayed on your iPad’s screen.

While in the air it secures the iPad and makes it usable by pilots during flights, on the ground and detached from your leg, it does a great job as a protective iPad case and as a kickstand. To use it for the latter purpose you only need to fold it out, because it was specifically designed for desktop use. Moreover, if you need to charge or sync the iPad, you won’t have to remove the iPro Kneeboard because it comes with the necessary opening at its bottom.

The only thing that could use an improvement is the leg strap that should be made retractable. That would enhance the accessory’s usability when it’s used for something else than flying, because it comes with the necessary capabilities.
