The iPad impresses with its gorgeous touchscreen and performance capabilities that make it one of the most popular tablets available on the market. Because of iOS 4.2, the iPad gained the ability to add backgrounds to all your app screens and not only to your home screen. Here’s a list of possible sources of iPad backgrounds.

A source is the iPad itself. This device comes with many built-in images, available in the Photo library, that can be used as backgrounds. By accessing the Settings section and choosing Wallpaper, you can also access the images available in the Photo library.

Another great source of iPad backgrounds is the App Store. You have the opportunity to find many photo apps that will help you customize the iPad’s screens. You will also find apps designed to offer backgrounds images for your iPad and apps that feature photo galleries from which you can choose one of the images that you find suitable as background. My favorite app is Fotopedia Heritage which is free for download and includes gorgeous photos of gorgeous locations. The app comes with an export option that allows you to take one of the pictures available inside the app and use it as background. You also have the possibility to save that specific photo in the Photo library available on your iPad. Some of the apps of this kind are considered iPad incompatible, but you shouldn’t let that warning prevent you from trying the app.

You should also use as iPad background source your own photos, taken with the iPad’s camera or any other camera. Photos can be uploaded on your iPad via iTunes. You will only have to follow a few steps. The process of uploading photos on your iPad won’t be difficult at all, so you shouldn’t be concerned by the matter. After the uploading process is finished, you can access the photos transferred, from the Photo app or from the wallpaper option available in Settings. The end result: you will be able to use images of friends, family and landscapes as iPad backgrounds.

I also need to mention the possibility to find iPad backgrounds by searching images on the Internet. You will find many background specific sites from where you can easily download the wallpapers you want. You should keep in mind that some of these sites offer the images for free while others request fees. A reliable site that provides a huge collection of iPad backgrounds is iPadWallpaper.org, but you can easily find many other options by simply typing in a browser’s search box the keywords “iPad backgrounds” or “iPad wallpaper”.
